Everything Happens for a Reason: A Nostalgic Rumination

Boy with walking stick at a fantastical crossroads with glowing paths and floating crystals
Daily writing prompt
Do you think everything happens for a reason?

Do I think everything happens for a reason?

Absolutely YES!

Everything that has happened to me until this tiny moment here is pointing to the same.

Everything I said Yes to without a well laid out plan and suffered the consequences.
Everything I said no to with careful deliberation and revelled in the aftermath

Every left I forced myself to take trying to dance to society’s tunes
Every right I allowed myself to take trying to follow only my heart’s music

Every friend who took me for granted and quietly slipped out to oblivion
Every friend who leapt into the unknown future with me with promises to stay the course

Every man who used, abused and betrayed me
Every partner who became a mirror closing the gap between me and my best version

Every new road I followed hoping it would lead me to a new dream
Every old road I bid goodbye to thanking it for the lessons it taught me

Every dream I let go off with grace
Every dream I welcomed with gratitude

Every pain I endured while burning in the mines of life
Every comfort I enjoyed while receiving the gifts from life

Everything I loved to pieces with everything I had
Everything I hated from the very centre of my core

Every truth revealed
Every lie concealed

Every choice made
Every rejoice felt

Every breath inhaled
Every death exhaled

Every lesson learnt
Every vision conjured

Every question asked
Every answer gained

Every loss grieved
Every win celebrated

Every moment lived
Every movement manoeuvred

Every dawn chosen
Every dusk risked

Every shadow played with
Every light smiled at

Every night slept in
Every day woken with

Every life I lived
Every life I couldn’t

It takes time to process this truth.
It takes age and experiences to realise it.
Insight and hindsight to finally accept that everything happens for a reason.

Everything and everyone I met head on in my life has created, nurtured, built and forged me into the force of nature I am today.

Do I believe everything happens for a reason?
You bet I do. Absolutely!

I am just a tiny speck in the Universe. A microcosm that is shaping the macrocosm in my own way. So naturally, everything happening to me has its effect on the Universe, however insignificant I might seem in the grand scheme of the macrocosm.

So I wouldn’t be wrong to say that everything happening in the Universe has a reason, however big or unlikely or just unknown to me the reason might be, at the moment.

I don’t believe in coincidences.
You being here, reading my words when you could have chosen to spend your precious time in a million other ways possible and available to you…this, my friend, was meant to happen.

Like waves of an ocean crashing into each other, you and I were meant to share this moment in the history of Time together.

Perhaps you needed to hear my thoughts. Perhaps I needed to feel your presence here touching my words softly.

Perhaps the both of us were accorded this moment to honour each other’s presence in the vast Universe.

Does the reason matter?

We are here, alive, partaking together the joys and miracles of life.
Ain’t that enough?

Perhaps we will never cross each other’s path ever again. So Thank you for your energy and time. Thank you for gracing my blog with your kind presence. You will be remembered. Not just by me, by the wheels of the Universe itself.

Everything happens for a reason: Seen here a symbolic representaion of this belief, a boy with walking stick at a fantastical crossroads with glowing paths and floating crystals each leading to a new journey, a new life.
Everything happens for a reason: What is Life but the culmination of all that is happening to us and around us? Their connections becoming the map of our life.
