Who is the fictional character you relate to the most?

A fictional character I relate to the most?

I am a blend of two of my most beloved characters of all time; both incidentally animated, super cute, childlike and childish.

I am spunky, mischievous and independent like Jerry from Tom and Jerry.

I am loyal, brave and kind like Piglet from Winne-the-Pooh.

I am Jerrylet!!

Jerry and Piglet: Seen here a Mouse/ Pig like character wearing a striped shirt holding a flower in forest near 100 Acre Wood sign symbolising a new character Jerrylet; a blend of the best of both

From Oh d-d-d-d-dear to It’s ok dear, all is well

Piglet teaches us that being afraid is normal but doing the right thing anyway is what being brave is. Courage that doesn’t announce itself is more valuable than brandishing a sword at all times and getting absolutely nothing done. Or worse, hurting someone in the bargain!

Like Piglet, I am anxious but face my fears anyway. I used to be a nervous wreck and shy through my teens, almost a wall flower in any social situation. My heart was always going Oh d-d-d-d-dear when I am around people. Especially people who stress others out just by being themselves!

It took many years to learn but finally I don’t let it get to me now. Atleast not always. I take a deep breath, send a prayer to the Universe and deep dive into any situation head on. Knowing that the Piglet in me will figure it out.

Zip Zap Zoom Ahoy!

In moments like these, is also when my inner Jerry springs out.

Jerry is quick-witted and quick-feeted. He might be small but can outwit and outrun anyone of any size. Underestimating him has proven to be deadly to many a bully of his!

I take after Jerry is his lightning smart wit and speed. Squeezing myself out of tricky situations is a trait that helped me stay on top of my business for an entire decade. And some family gatherings that threatened to suck me dry.

Confident and sharp, Jerry like, I am not afraid of the word impossible. I know and firmly believe that beyond every impossible, I am possible.

Friendships : Tests and Trials

Both are deeply loyal to their friends.

Come to think of it, Tom is more a friend of Jerry than an enemy if you have grown up with these cartoons like I have. When Tom is in real danger, Jerry helps him. He is there without Tom asking. If that ain’t friendship then what is?

Piglet is Pooh’s best companion. Piglet comes into his own with Pooh. Flourishing in his company, becoming the best version he can be. He even goes on to live with him at his home after he gives away his own home to Mr. Owl.

That has always inspired me to try and be the best friend I can be. The real question to ask ourselves is not have others been good friends to us?…Have we tried being good friends to them.

I know for a fact that I have tried to be generous and compassionate even if that wasn’t always returned in the same measure. Sometimes that is enough. Knowing that we have tried our best and given our all is enough.

At the end of the day I am my best friend. I am my protector and I am my comfort. What Tom is to Jerry and Pooh is to Piglet, I am to myself.

And that my dear friends is the best thing I can ever do to honour my deep love for both Jerry and Piglet.

Peace, Peaceeee, Peaceeeeeeeeee

Resourceful to the core, I am all about simple comforts like Piglet and Jerry. I don’t need much to be content and enjoy life to it’s edges. Gimme a simple cup of tea and I would offer you gratitude as if you have handed me a million dollar cheque.

What cheese is to Jerry and haycorn is to Piglet, Peace is to me. That is all I care about. And

To me Peace means Home. As it does to Jerry and Piglet alike!

Home means Me. So Peace is Me.

I will always be Jerrylet!

In a few years I will turn 50.I don’t know how I managed to come on top of life every time I risked going under. But here I am, still sane and still going strong on the childlike and childish traits in equal measure. What fun!

Acting like a full blown adult at all times is over rated anyway, no?

I never aspired to be rich and famous as a kid. Even as young as 5, I knew I wanted to happy, contented and peaceful. That is where I thrived. That is what I achieved.

I wanted to be a little bit of Jerry and a little bit of Piglet then and I am the best of both now.

Here’s to Jerrylet forever!

  1. Jerrylet is such a perfect name for who you’ve become, someone who knows that real courage is the quiet kind (Piglet’s kind), and that real power lives in speed and wit but also in staying true to who you love. The fact that you’ve spent decades chasing peace instead of prestige, and somehow ended up saner and stronger than most? That’s not luck. That’s you honoring both sides of yourself. And turning 50 still believing in the impossible while accepting the simple gifts of tea and contentment, that’s not childish, that’s wisdom wearing its most authentic face. You didn’t abandon your inner child; you let her grow up her own way.

  2. I absolutely loved this Lalitha 😊 The way you blended Jerry’s wit with Piglet’s quiet courage felt so genuine and so you. “Jerrylet” made me smile, but what stayed with me was your reminder that being brave doesn’t always mean being fearless, and that peace is something we create within ourselves. Thank you for sharing such a warm, honest, and uplifting piece it was a joy to read from beginning to end. 🦋✨
