Never-Ending Blogger Story: Billo Rani, Majnu Ustad and a Curse

NEBS AWARD

A tale that began with Mr Wise, travelled through Mr Savio to reach Hazel, then hopped to Destiny and then to Meeta, finally landing the teary Bilomena in my slangy hands.

THE ONE AND ONLY RULE

Continue the story from where it stops in no more than 120 words (you see, bloggers have less patience), then nominate one blogger (whom you think won’t ditch you) to carry it forward and pass on the NEBS Award.
Do not end the story!

That blogger adds their part, nominates another blogger, and passes on the award. The next person continues from where the previous one stopped. Remember, the story should never end…that’s the fun part of the whole idea. You should also leave a link to the original author so that he/she knows that the story is in motion.

So, make us laugh, surprise us, or leave the next blogger with an even bigger mess.

Head straight down to follow the trail from Mr. Wise through Meeta.

Thank you Meeta for letting me play with it!

Let me pick up from where the story ends in its previous avatar. It’s going to get wild and very slangy. Don’t blame me. You asked for it!

Part 6

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to everyone, a storm was cooking inside the sequinned purse.

“…diamonds should come with a return policy?”

“Yeh kya baigan ke baatan hai potti?” (Cut the crap, lady!)

“Hum hi se shaadiyan banaate aur hum hi ko return? Billo rani, aakhri hauli hai kya!“( You need me to get married and you want to return me? Billo darling, are you out of your mind?)

Flabbergasted, Bilomena looked around.

Who could be addressing her in Hyderabadi slang here?!

A flash of teeth greeted her. A strange man gracefully bowed and said “Aadaab.”

“Do I even know him? Wonder why he is glowing like a chandelier!” She turned to walk away in a huff.

“Billo rani, kaho toh abhi jaan de doon,” the farishta(angel) began to sing while following her.

She tripped. Dhadaam!

Falling into his arms.

Woosh! Up in the air flew the purse.

The ring fell out, conveniently into her finger.

Om Bheem Bush!

The farishta had played his part. The jadui (magical) ring had teleported her to Jumeraat Bazaar, Puranapul, Hyderabad—the place for all things strange, be it a knick-knack or a peek into the long-dead past.

Majnu Ustad, its 396 year-old owner, was waiting for her. He had a special task for Bilomena that was set to unfold on Friday night.

Peeturr miyaan can wait.

The curse cannot.

To be continued…

A fantasy based image of a woman in white falling into the arms of a man in hyderabadi garb with a magic ring in her fingers in the busy streets of Jumeerat bazar Hyderabad.

Who do I hand over the award to now? Hmm.

I can think of one name—Rajeev. The fact that he has been staying away from all this methodical madness is making me restless and angsty.

So Rajeev of https://satiregpt.wordpress.com/ will hopefully continue this banal romance that is breaking borders and taking a flight towards fantasy. If not, just pass it on to someone you think is capable and willing to dip his/her/their feet into this madness. Fingers crossed.

Follow the maddening trail here:

  1. Aadaab to the latest additions…your
farishta handled that smoothly with his Billo rani, kaho toh abhi jaan de doon… lol…

a lovely touch of wonder added, Lalitha … 🤍

    1. Thank you Destiny❤️🤭🤣

      1. my pleasure…🤍🙃

  2. Well done, Lalitha!
Haha, you have taken us from a love story to a magical adventure in Hyderabad, and poor Peeturr has now been pushed aside while a 396-year-old Ustad takes charge. I must say, Bilomena’s life is getting more complicated with every passing blogger!
Congratulations on accepting the NEBS Award and carrying the story forward with your own flavour of humour and imagination. And welcome aboard, Rajeev! You have inherited a story with a magical ring, a curse and a Peeturr who is still waiting for his turn. Good luck! Haha!

    1. Thank you 🙏🏾😊 Shukriya miyaan Foolz! Dil garden garden hora 😊😁

I am waiting for Rajeev to spin his own satirical magic on our adventure🤞🏾

      1. Hehe!

    2. Thank you for inviting me into this world of madness! Bilomena is all set to step into the shoes of Peeturr and the Fiance Guy — though, judging by the sizes, she might need two different pairs! 😂

      1. Haha, The unanswered questions…
✅ What exactly is the curse?
✅ Why has Majnu Ustad summoned Bilomena?
✅ What is supposed to happen on Friday night?
✅ Who was the mysterious man who called her Billo Rani?
✅ What will happen to Peeturr and his love story?
✅ And will the ring ever get a chance to fulfil its original purpose?
From a missing ending page in a book to a 396-year-old man and a magical curse, NEBS has travelled quite a distance. Peeturr wanted to propose marriage. He may now need to book an appointment just to find Bilomena!
Let us see where Rajeev is taking us! 😃

      2. Published. I have nominated you to take this forward.

      3. Haha, Rajeev, you have taken NEBS into the fifth and sixth dimensions and given us a 700-year-old diamond, naughty spirits, a mysterious fiancé and a startup sending Earth’s rubbish to Venus! I must say, Peeturr’s romantic troubles have now become an interplanetary matter.

Thank you for carrying the story forward and bringing the Satirical Affairs Department into our never-ending madness. And look what has happened now — the award has travelled through so many hands only to land back with its creator! I started this chain to keep bloggers busy, and now the chain has come back to keep me busy. Haha!

The creator of NEBD Award is officially back on duty. Let’s see what trouble FoolZ can cause next!

  3. Loved this! The Hyderabadi slang mixed with the magical Jumeraat Bazaar setting is such a fun combo, and “glowing like a chandelier” made me laugh out loud. Your comic timing is spot on (Dhadaam! ). Also, that cliffhanger is evil. Waiting eagerly for the next part!

    1. Thank you Meetaji! I had so much fun playing with it. Billo is made for important stuff rather than settling with confused men without an iota of pyaar, ishq, mohabbat in them. Her destiny is calling and she better hurry!

  4. While Peeturr is sobbing, contemplating a write-off and calculating the target XIRR of a new SIP to recover his monetary losses…

Bilomina is preparing to take on an extraordinary task in a different reality.

The Thursday market at the Bridge of Love will witness history. Or will it re-witness history?

And then, there’s the other guy.

Awazon ke bazaaron mein khamoshi ko bhi tavajjo mil sakti hai, miyan…

Coming soon. Idea incubation in progress.

    1. Haha, waiting! 😃😃

    2. Wah re mere sher! Shayari wayari! Mashallah! And here I assumed you were too embroiled in ministerial activities to live it up! 😏

And you know your Hyderabadi history too! Wallah!

Der se hi sahi, thank god I didn’t let my assumption run wild. You already lost out on a creepy story relay last week because I assumed! Inshallah this time, you will make history yourself with your take… letting the ministry look after its own affairs for a hot minute?

Yallah! Yallah! Can’t wait Rajeev miyaan!

      1. I am not aware of the other story from last week. Please share the link.

  5. Very interesting story Lalitha

    1. Thank you Sadje. Would you be interested to write stories too? I know you write poetry but stories? If you are, then I would love to pull you in for a relay the next time something of the sort comes my way.

      1. You’re most welcome dear. I have written stories in the past but right now, am too busy with doctors and treatments. Perhaps in the next round I’ll participate. Thanks for the offer 💓
