Come away, my darling
Come away
Wooded brooks and mountain delights await
Heed neither the bars of your body
Nor the barricades of your mind
Listen to your heart and jump out the windows of life
It waits…
*
Hush now…
Listen to the call of the winds
They blow for you
Listen to the fall of the lights
They flow for you
**
Come away, my darling
Come away
Woollen songs and thready words await
Heed neither the warp of your body
Nor the weft of your mind
Listen to your heart and jump out the windows of your life
It waits…
***
Hush now…
Listen to the call of the child
They belong with you
Listen to the gall of the wild
They long for you
****
Come away, my darling
Come away
Wait not for a tomorrow
Tomorrow never comes
Jump now
Come away now
Come away, my darling
****”

Both the photos took me to the same space. Through the magical windows led by the luminous guide, the white owlet.
The words are inspired by the Hindi novel Diwar mein ek khidki rehti hai by Vinod Kumar Shukla.
These pictures took me to the same magical place, the book took me to. It’s a book based on the life of a newly married young couple; the man a teacher and the woman a housewife. They discover each other, love, life and everything about the mundaneness of it through the only window in their one room house that leads them to a world that looks straight out of the heavenly Eden.
Brooks, forests and a new world full of magical possibilities is discovered through the window that leads them to a fantasy world that we are left wondering about long after the pages end.
Was it real? Was it all a dream? Did that world arise out of the mind of the creator? Or did it begin at the ends of the couple’s restricted life? Did their hearts jointly create it to find the true meaning of love?
I will never know.
I saw the owlet as the representative of the world beyond the veil. A world filled with possibilities, longings and new dreams. Where freedom awaits. True freedom from the shackles of my mind, heart and body.
Thank you Sadje for this week’s photo prompts. Thank you for the feel of magic realism they led me to.
