#WDYS | Chasing Dreams: A Journey of Rest and Renewal

Rest and Renewal: A dreamy photo of a idyllic street with coconut trees, a bicycle with a basket waiting, a spa and an eating place with a sign board reading Follow that dream.

Don’t call my name.

Please don’t call my name.

Not yet. Not so soon.

It isn’t time yet, is it?

*

I need to stay away.

From you. Your irresistable voice.

Your charisma. Your magnetic aura.

Your call of the wild.

Your pull to the wild.

**

I’ve been down your road.

Too many times to count.

Too many tears to wipe.

Too many stories to rewind and release.

I know…I know.

Too many to uncurl yet.

***

Let me be.

Just for now.

Let my heart rest.

Let my body recuperate.

Let me do some BEING, please.

****

I promise you.

I promise to follow your trails.

To newer vistas. To higher summits.

To lands without borders. To hearts without fear.

To love that stays. To prayer that pays.

To a newer me. To a newer you.

I promise you.

*****

Behind the scenes:

The first thing I noticed in the picture was the sign board that reads FOLLOW THAT DREAM. An urge to chase after the next dream lying in wait. A call. An irresistible call. And it’s not so quiet anymore.

The next thing that caught my eye was the white cycle with the basket. Definitely not something I would use to chase after dreams! It screams of lazy lunches and lazier siestas in idyllic Spanish villages. Somewhere I wouldn’t mind hiding from the next dream that can’t seem to hold it’s excitement in it’s pants anymore. .

See the KAYA spa on the other side? Obviously. A perfect getaway from all the dream chasing escapades of my life. I need that REST! Just enough for the next dream lying in wait to play catch up.

Did you notice the name board on what looks like a local pizzeria? It could be a rest house or even perhaps a cultural centre? Lolita. Lolita. It’s actually calling me! Literally just ME! Need I say more?

It’s obviously a small dream finding it’s place under the sun between bigger dreams. A stop gap. To recharge and renew. Mend my broken heart and build a stronger body to meet the new vistas, summits, lovers (plural?? Yeah. Right. Who am I fooling? ) and prayers waiting on the other side of all this rewiring, resting and rebuilding.

This is me trying to convince a new dream to hold on to it’s horses while I recuperate from my previous adventures. To rejuvenate before I dive headlong into a new one without a care in the world.

A promise that I will pay heed to the call of the wild and chase it’s horizons again… soon.

Until then… it’s all about rest and renewal before I begin again. For once choosing BEING over DOING.

Thank you Sadje for this lovely photo prompt. It’s dreamy. So so dreamy! I know this was meant just for me! I appreciate it with all my heart.

  2. A lovely take Lalitha. Dreams should wait till we are ready for them- but they seldom do so. Love your interpretation of this image and your poem. Thanks for joining in.

      1. You’re most welcome 🤗

  3. I really loved this, Lalitha 🤍 The way you found a whole story in that picture dreams calling, the need to pause, rest, heal, and then begin again felt so real. And that line about choosing BEING over DOING really stayed with me. Sometimes we don’t need another adventure right away; we just need a little time to breathe and find ourselves again. Such a beautiful, honest piece. 🦋✨

  4. What a beautifully written post! You have described the dream interpretation so nicely that I could almost see it unfolding. Your way of putting feelings into words is truly wonderful. ❤️

    1. Thank you Meeta🙏🏾🥹. I love that my words could bring out the picture well enough that you could see it unfolding… I take it that’s a job done🫠🥹 🤓

  5. The phrase about letting your body recuperate really stuck with me. I have spent decades thinking that rest is just a pause before the next push, but I have learned that true recovery is its own kind of work. It is not about doing nothing, but about allowing the stiff joints and tired muscles to actually soften. Your image of the white cycle with the basket feels perfectly aligned with that idea. It is not a vehicle for chasing high summits, but for lazy lunches and slow siestas. There is a profound strength in choosing that slower pace. It allows the heart to rest without guilt. I hope you find that quiet space where the call of the wild feels less like a demand and more like a gentle invitation to simply be.

    1. What an incredibly kind comment Dan! I hope I find that quiet space soon too in the in-betweens. Thank you for leaving behind your soft footprints here…

Care to drop a tiny pearl from the ocean of your mind?
