A future I pray for, knowing I won’t be around to witness it

What’s something you’d love to see in the future, but know you probably won’t live to witness?

This is simple.

Seemingly impossible too. But I am a dreamer.

So here it is…

A complete termination of organised religion.

I ain’t naive to wish for world peace. That ain’t happening until each and every human is at peace with him/her self. Which isn’t possible until you and I begin to see other as the same despite who you pray to and where I offer my prayer.

Disclaimer: This is a deeply personal opinion. I might rankle you. Or not. I won’t know. Sorry but I am not sorry. I am going to go ahead and say this today.

Organised religion is organised crime.

A great way to sever the hearts and minds of people into many million pieces, each one filled with vitriol, that kills not just people but everything that is caught in the crossfire. An easy way to use the Word to abuse every sentient and non sentient being on the planet claiming superiority.

Until the day dawns when my friend’s niece doesn’t see me as a devil worshipper just because she worships Jesus and I love my Shiva, peace of any kind is just unthinkable. Mind you, she is the daughter of school teachers and studies in one of those la di lah schools of the city. I guess the future I am dreaming of just showed the middle finger to me.

Until the night rests without my next door neighbours raising a hue and cry about their fellow neighbours singing carols praising their lord, harmony of any sort is unimaginable. Mind you, these are same people who cranked up the volume on the hymns they sang for their gods oblivious to their harrangue. Yeah, yeah. I know. Middle finger and all.

Until the noon shines its brightest outside a mosque in the next street with people milling about doing their own effing business instead of creating an unnecessary ruckus on Friday just to ruffle already strained feathers, self-contentment is out of question. Need you say more?I know the drill now. The dream has left the building.

BUT I will dream a new dream. I hope you can too. We know without self-contentment, pretty much everything falls apart.

Until all of us come together, join hands as one to the ONE, no amount of bombing and bargaining is going to help anyone find the elusive calm that no doubt you and I both seek so desperately.

Organised religion is business.

Pure and commercial to milk every penny that exists in the world to empower those in the high echelons of society. Divide and rule. 1984 anyone?

To wage wars againt the innocent. To rip apart nations based on who we bow down to. Bridges and borders separating you and I. Don’t you understand we belong to the same side?

Organised religion glorifies violence.

Separates you and I in the name of a thousand rituals and dogmatic beliefs we are conditioned to perfom and enact from no one knows when. To appease who?

Organised religion brainwashes humans.

To believe they are the perfect creations of God, thus putting everything else that is sentient down the ladder of evolution.

How is one life better than the other? What makes you say my life is more precious than my goat’s? How? Nature sustains us all equally, so what criteria sets me apart from a tiger or a snake? Oh…I get it! They don’t have a religion, so it’s ok to kill them for pleasure, is it?

The day humans see each other differently not on the basis of personal differences but for who they are instead of who they follow and believe in, exists. Far into the distances of a future I know I won’t be around for.

I know it. It’s a future I pray for, to all the gods and the guides and the angels I know…It is a future Earth needs to witness. A time where it can finally breathe fully and freely. My existence or the lack of it is too small a price to pay for such a transcendental and transformative epoch in the life of a planet I love far more than myself.

You and I both know the risks involved in making a change, taking that big leap. We both want such a future for the planet. Are we willing to sacrifice our big fat ego and pride for such a great cause though?

Say what?

No?

Right. I thought so.

The wars rage on…millions die. The Earth continues to wait.

I hold no high hopes for humanity as such. We are an ungrateful bunch of idiots who know not the spelling of remorse.

Earth…well her, I bet she will survive long enough to see it through. There is always the option of pushing the power off button. I am secretly hoping she goes for it. And relish the end of an evolution that went so far out of her hand. A complete extermination of humankind. Maybe all of creation.

Fingers crossed for a new…well a new NEW! Hoping the poisonous claws of religion doesn’t creep into the NEW and begin the end of a new beginning.

No organised religion: Waking up to a new NEW!A future to hope for!
